There is good news from Redmond.  The Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 beta is now available for download.  There is both a 32-bit and 64-bit version.  A product key is not required to use this product.  If you're interested in giving this a whirl, you can sign-up for it here.

 

A few of the major changes include:

  • Hardware-assisted virtualization for Intel and AMD
  • Support for Windows Vista as a host O/S
  • Support for Windows Vista as a guest O/S
  • Support for 64-bit host O/S

 

With this release, there appears to be a slew of bug fixes.  Some include:

  • Support for ISO images larger than 2.2GB
  • Optimizations made for laptop users
  • Minor UI changes
  • Fix for IntelPPM issue
