My neighborhood now supports Verizon's FiOS service. In case you haven't heard this term before, FiOS is the latest in fiber-optic technology. It delivers laser-generated pulses of light, riding on hair-thin strands of glass fiber all the way to your house.
I made the decision to upgrade from my Cox Internet, telephone, and television service to Verizon's FiOS with telephone, Internet, and HD TV.
The service technician came today for my scheduled installation. I must say... my internet speed is something to smile about:
I have the 15 Mbps downstream and 2 Mbps upstream. For about $15 more a month, I can upgrade to 30 Mbps downstream with 5 Mbps upstream. Whoa!
Using the new Set Top Boxes (STB) for each of my TVs may be a bit challenging. I'm not too keen on having to have another box hooked up to my TVs. But it does have a built in DVR (Digital Video Recorder) so that I can watch pre-recorded shows from two other rooms in the house. My Beyond TV may be out the door since I can't use my two dual channel onboard CPU tuner cards any longer.
So long Cox... It was nice making the transition from dial-up to broadband....
